The historic town of Hermanus is one of the Cape’s most picturesque and popular towns. Famous for whale watching and the yearly whale festival, the town is a hive of activity in season. There are many great markets in Hermanus which are open daily in season and where you can treat yourself to some souvenirs from the locals.

Although Hermanus is a town packed with history, it has undergone many developments in the past few years and it is now a place where old meets new. There are trendy shops and world-class restaurants. Hermanus is a few minutes drive from Crimson Views; spend a day exploring the town, beaches and the old harbour. In season you will hear the cries of the kelp horn. The first whale crier in the world spent his days spotting the whales in Walker bay and alerting the public.

Hermanus was also awarded Blue Flag status for several years in a row. The Blue Flag is a symbol of high environmental standards as well as good sanitary and safety facilities at the beach. The Blue Flag Campaign includes environmental education and information for the public, decision makers and tourism operators.
